Alt Girl Cinema: PERSEPOLIS

  • Bookwoman 5501 N Lamar Blvd A-105, Austin, TX 78751

Join us for this month's Alt Girl Cinema screening at Bookwoman, the only feminist bookstore in Austin and probably Texas! We're screening Persepolis, about a young Iranian woman who's exiled and comes to age during the Iranian Revolution. Persepolis is the first animated feature directed by a woman to be nominated by the Academy Awards. Directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud. Languages French, English, and Persian.

Special guest Nidhi Reddy will be Skyping in after her short, The Yellow Wallpaper. Nidhi created The Yellow Wallpaper while she was an undergrad at UT Austin, majoring in both Film and Math.  Nowadays, Nidhi lives in San Francisco as a web developer and designer, though she continues to animate on the side.  She's currently working on two animated side-projects, one for the upcoming documentary Canine Dogs and another of her own.  When she's not making things, she likes to be in nature, have impassioned conversations about TV, and play an absurd number of board games.

Doors open at 6:30 pm! Suggested donation of $6.
