Healing Through the Arts summer workshop is a 90s dance movement class, co-presented with Ashé Arts Austin! Getting into shape is like learning, and everyone has their own way of doing it. The gym is not for everyone's personality, lifestyle, or body; this method will replenish your soul, make you laugh, and leave you fulfilled.

Re-live the Golden Age with some authentic dance moves of the 90’s! We choose a theme and music video to focus on, and then let our inner teenager free. Treat yo-self to a great way to get fit. This class uses a simple warm-up, clear and accessible choreography, and a take home stretch. We'll have so much fun, you won’t even notice the ‘workout’ part!

About the Workshop:

  • 90 minute sessions
  • mindful body exploration
  • relief techniques for acute and chronic stress
  • strength and conditioning techniques for physical wellbeing - artistic expression for inspiration and empowerment

This workshop is a is a sneak peak into the 90s Music Video Series presented by Ashe Arts coming August through December! Fridays at 7:30 p.m. at 912 E11th Street. For more info visit ashearts.com

Healing Through the Arts is a pop-up art series, presented by the Women’s Community Center of Central Texas. We are working with various women’s arts groups in the Austin community, such as Hive Arts Collective, Ashé Arts Austin, and Colectiva Cosmica to provide healing within an arts context. The Women’s Community Center values nurturing the whole person, and balancing spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs. The WCC and collaborating organizations work toward community and inclusivity among trans/queer/cis women, and non-binary individuals. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
